Mount Meru (Tanzania) has two peaks namely the Socialist peak and Little Meru. The highest peak on Mount Meru is the “Socialist Peak” at 4,566 m (14,980 ft) followed by the subpeak known as Little Meru at (3,820 m / 12,533 ft). Mount Meru in Tanzania is not to be confused by Mount Meru (India) otherwise known as Meru Peak which has three challenging peaks namely southern (6,660 metres, 21,850 ft), central (6,310 metres, 20,700 ft), and northern (6,450 metres, 21,160 ft). While at the peak of Mount Meru in Tanzania, you can see the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro towering in the clouds.
Mount Meru is not an active volcano, instead, it is a dormant volcanic mountain located in Arusha City in Tanzania, about 70 kilometres (43 miles) west of the more famous Mount Kilimanjaro. Standing at 4,562.13 metres (14,968 ft), Mount Meru is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro, third highest in East Africa after Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya and fifth highest in Africa.
