Highlights of the 14-day Kenya-Tanzania Safari:
Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Embark on your thrilling two-week adventure as we set off from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, a 3-4 hour drive along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. Along the way, you’ll pass picturesque local homesteads and vibrant plantations. As we enter Maasai country, keep an eye out for the herders in their traditional plaid wraps. The magnificent peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro signals our arrival at Amboseli. Your experienced Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will accompany you in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser Jeep, your ultimate viewing platform for the upcoming fourteen days. Settle into your safari lodge or tented camp, enjoy a delectable lunch, and embark on your first exciting game drive. Keep a lookout for the majestic elephants that often roam alone or in family groups. Later in the evening, if weather permits, witness the iconic image of Kilimanjaro’s peak emerging from the clouds.
Full Day at Amboseli Park
Welcome to your first morning on safari! Embrace the tranquility of the soft morning light as both humans and animals awaken to the day’s adventures. Today marks the first of several special discovery days, where we’ll spend three days exploring multiple parks. After a delicious breakfast, we’ll hop into the 4×4 and begin our exploration of Amboseli Park. Keep your eyes peeled for buffalo, rhino, zebra, monkeys, baboons, lions, and cheetahs. Take a break at Observation Hill, stretch your legs, and enjoy the diverse habitats of the park. Marvel at the busy birdlife near the marshes, home to herons, falcons, eagles, egrets, pelicans, crakes, and Egyptian geese. After lunch, continue your drives and get to know your knowledgeable guide, who will be your host, friend, and teacher throughout the safari. Capture more picture-perfect moments of Kilimanjaro before returning to your accommodation for dinner and another exciting safari evening.
Amboseli – Aberdare Park
Today, we embark on a drive through Amboseli once more before heading to our next destination, Aberdare Park, a land of cool lush forests and mountain lakes, a different twist to the typical African safari experience. Discover unique wildlife, including buffalo, giant antelope, forest hog, hyenas, warthogs, and monkeys, and perhaps spot them from your special “tree hotel” balcony. Choose to stay at the Treetops Lodge or The Ark and relish the alpine beauty of Aberdare.
Aberdare – Samburu Reserve
As the morning arrives, we bid farewell to the cool mountain climate of Aberdare and venture into the sunlit plains of Samburu National Reserve. This less-touristy park is home to big cats and plenty of elephants, offering a unique safari experience. If you desire, we can explore neighboring reserves like Shaba and Buffalo Springs, providing a contrast of woodlands and forests. Spend the evening at our Samburu lodge or tented camp.
Full Day at Samburu Reserve
Prepare for an exhilarating full day of game drives at Samburu Reserve, a unique opportunity as other safaris are often ending by this time. Witness the lifeline of the park, the Ewaso Ngiro River, attracting thirsty lions and elephants. Keep an eye out for Samburu’s distinctive species, such as the beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and Grevy’s zebra. For a cultural experience, we can visit the nearby Samburu People’s village and learn about their way of life. Spend the night at our Samburu accommodation.
Samburu Reserve – Ol Pejeta
Before leaving Samburu, we’ll take one last spin around the plains, soaking in the breathtaking vistas, and then head to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia. This reserve boasts the complete “Big Five,” including the rare African wild dog. Most notably, Ol Pejeta is the only place in Kenya to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Relax and share stories over dinner at our Ol Pejeta accommodation.
Ol Pejeta – Lake Naivasha
Today, we travel to the cool shores of Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake teeming with hippos, zebras, giraffes, and antelope. For an extraordinary experience, consider a bicycle safari at Hell’s Gate Park, where you can pedal alongside buffalo, antelope, and giraffes. End the day with dinner at our Lake Naivasha safari lodge or tented camp.
Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara
Embark on a sailing safari on Lake Naivasha, gliding past hippos and observing buffalo and antelope grazing nearby. Enjoy a bonus trip to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for close-up views of wildlife like wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, and giraffe. Next, journey to the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve, the crown jewel of Kenya’s parks. Home to the “Big Five,” the Mara offers iconic African landscapes and a wealth of wildlife. Spend the night at our Masai Mara lodge or tented camp.
Full Day at Masai Mara Reserve
Enjoy a full day of unlimited game drives at Masai Mara, witnessing the impressive concentration of big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The park’s fertile fields attract countless grazers, and from July to October, the Great Migration of wildebeests takes center stage. Picnic by the Mara River to witness the thrilling wildlife crossings. Add cultural moments or a hot air balloon safari to enrich your experience. Spend the night at our Mara accommodation.
Masai Mara – Serengeti Park
Explore a favorite spot in Masai Mara before crossing the border into Tanzania and venturing into Serengeti National Park, renowned for its vastness and immense wildlife populations, including over 4,000 lions and 1,000 leopards. Settle into our Serengeti lodge or tented camp and prepare for the next three days of safari adventures.
Full-Day Serengeti Park
Spend a full day at Serengeti, tracking diverse wildlife species, from elephants and rhinos to giraffes, gazelles, and more. Witness different aspects of the Great Migration from June to October and the calving season from December to March. Immerse yourself in the captivating scenes of this exceptional park, teeming with both predators and grazers. Relax at our Serengeti accommodation in the evening.
Serengeti Game Reserve – Ngorongoro Crater
Bid farewell to the majestic Serengeti and journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the awe-inspiring Ngorongoro Crater, a haven for a wide array of wildlife, including lions, buffalo, elephants, baboons, hippos, and even pink flamingoes. Descend into the crater and explore its dense world of animals and birds. Enjoy a breathtaking Ngorongoro sunset at the crater’s rim before retiring to our Ngorongoro accommodation.
Ngorongoro Crater -Tarangire Park Or Lake Manyara<br />
Witness a captivating sunrise at the crater’s rim before choosing your next destination: Tarangire National Park or Lake Manyara National Park. Tarangire boasts its own smaller migration and unique baobab trees, while Lake Manyara offers diverse wildlife and serene lake views. Spend the night at either destination.
Tarangire Park or Lake Manyara – Arusha
On our final day, reflect on the incredible two-week safari you’ve experienced, exploring an array of ecosystems, meeting indigenous communities, and encountering countless species of wildlife.
