The Serena Mountain Lodge located in located at Kabaru, Nyeri, within the Mount Kenya National Park is located on the western slopes of the Kenyan Mountain at an elevation of around 2,200 meters (7,200 ft), making it the highest placed of the three tree lodges in Kenya. It’s built on the western slope of Mount Kenya and erected on poles so that the local wildlife isn’t hindered by the building’s design that blends with nature.
Surrounded by a dense rainforest, the lodge provides a tranquil ambience where guests can immerse themselves in nature’s beauty.
The lodge features its waterhole, attracting a variety of wildlife from Mount Kenya National Park, including buffalos, herbivores, and an array of bird species. The lodge is renowned for its excellent champagne breakfast and delicious cuisine, served by friendly and attentive staff. However, guests are advised to keep windows and doors closed to prevent unexpected visitors, such as monkeys, from entering their rooms. For those fortunate enough, Mount Kenya reveals itself in all its glory early in the morning, making it worth waking up at sunrise.

The Serena Mountain Lodge features rooms that are designed in the manner of wooden cabins. Each of these rooms features a private balcony with a view of the adjacent waterhole and a luxurious bathroom that is attached to the room. The rooms are decorated with hand-woven wall hangings, hardwood furniture, and rich warm tones, all of which are reflective of the Kikuyu culture that is prevalent in the area. In addition to complementary mineral water and amenities, guests are also given with a bathrobe and slippers, and hot water bottles are made available to them during the night.
