While some of these roads may be in poor condition and require a 4-wheel drive vehicle or even walking, the routes to Met Station from Naro Moru Gate and to Old Moses from Sirimon Gate are passable without a 4WD vehicle. However, it is important to check road conditions and weather forecasts before embarking on the journey to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Located approximately 96 kilometres from Embu and 64 kilometres from Meru, Chogoria serves as a convenient starting point for trekkers. From Chogoria town, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the 29-kilometre track leading to the Park Gate at 3,000 meters above sea level. Along the way, trekkers may opt to stay at the Meru Mt Kenya Bandas, which offers accommodation options near the Park Gate.
From the Park Gate, the track continues onward to the Chogoria roadhead, where the Chogoria Roadhead Campsite awaits trekkers seeking respite and shelter amidst the stunning natural surroundings of Mount Kenya.
