The cost to enter Mount Kenya park is always changing according to the Kenya Wildlife Service (to the extent that most websites offering Mount Kenya treks are displaying out-of-date prices). Currently, adult admission fees range from $150 for a three-day package to $220 for four days or $300 for five days. This includes both the admission price and camping costs. Camping charges

  1. The Kenya Wildlife Society charges daily fees, although they only last for 24 hours.
  2. Bring along acceptable identification, preferably a passport and a visa for international and east African visitors, as well as a Kenyan National Identity card.
  3. Only businesses and organizations that provide services to national parks and other places controlled by Kenya Wildlife Society are eligible for corporate passes into the country’s national parks.

Mount Kenya National Park Rules & Regulations

Below are the Mount Kenya National Park rules, regulations, and guidelines that you must adhere to if you are entering Mount Kenya, National Park as put out there by the park authorities and the Kenya Wildlife Service.

  1. Since this is where the wildlife lives, please respect their privacy.
  2. Be cautious around animals since they are wild and unpredictable.
  3. Avoid crowding the animals and making loud noises or unexpected movements. While in the park, vehicles may not honk.
  4. Don’t feed the animals; doing so alters their nutrition and encourages dependency on humans.
  5. Keep quiet; talking or loud noises can agitate other visitors and disturb the wildlife.
  6. Always remain in your car, unless you’re in a recognized place.
  7. Keep your speed below the 40 kph/25 mph limit. Overspeeding is severely forbidden and might result in a future park visitation restriction.
  8. Never drive off-road; doing so seriously harms the environment.
  9. Keep a minimum of 20 meters away from wildlife when watching it, and pull over to the side of the road to let other drivers pass.
  10. Do not toss cigarettes or litter.
  11. Never throw flaming things or leave flames unattended when camping.
  12. Respect the Kenyan cultural history by dressing appropriately, never taking pictures of the locals without their permission, and respecting their cultural rituals.
  13. Visitors must leave the park by 6 p.m., unless they are camping overnight, or stay overnight and depart before sunset.
  14. It is recommended that every tourist enter the park with a trained and authorized guide. The park management has handed identity cards to guides and porters.
  15. In the park, disposable plastic water bottles are not permitted.
  16. Luggage weighing more than 25 kg is not permitted to be carried by guides or porters. At the entrance gate, bags will be weighed.
  17. The park requires all visitors to check in and out by entering their personal information in the admission and exit books.
